The Staub cocotte is particularly popular with style-conscious cooks: in beautiful cinnamon, it looks good on the stove top and is also a pleasure to present food in at the table. Originating in France, cocottes were traditionally used as casserole dishes and can therefore be used to create a wide variety of exquisite, slow-cooked dishes. Since they are made from cast iron, a material ideal for stewing, these dishes are very highly regarded by France's top chefs.
The round Staub cocotte can be used on all heat sources, including induction hobs and ovens. Its two handles, placed on either side, mean it is also practical to carry. The cocotte has a diameter of 26 cm, a height of approximately 17 cm and a volume of 5.2 L, and can therefore be used to prepare an exquisite meal for several guests.
The casserole dish features black enamel on the inside. Since enamel has a very good stewing effect and enhances the natural flavour of a food, dishes prepared in the cocotte will be all the more flavoursome. The flavour of each individual ingredient can develop fully, combining harmoniously with the others to transform even the simplest dishes into something truly special.
