Typically used for making various stews and casseroles, the cast iron cocotte can be used for much more. Bake beautiful homemade bread in the cocotte by adding a dash of oil to the dough and base of the cocotte before placing in the oven.
Another option, for the ever versatile cocotte, is frying steaks. Add some oil to the cocotte and heat it slowly with the lid on. Add the steak and fry on both sides. Remove the steak and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving.
